SUMMER HOLIDAY
YOUNG MOTHERS GROUP
In the summer of 1986 a group of young mothers from SNYP went away on holiday to the Women’s Holiday Centre in Ribblesdale, Yorkshire. The days were spent visiting Hawes and Settle, shopping for food and presents, visiting cattle auctions, walking along the Pennines or just sunbathing.
SNYPERELLA
This pantomime was organised in March 1982, and was performed at the old High Southwick School. Girls from different parts of Southwick did all aspects of the panto, from production and writing to making costumes and designing the set. SNYPERELLA attracted over 350 people over it’s two evening performances.
Reclaim the Night March
SNYP took part in this march to raise awareness of the high level of violence towards women by men. It happened in February 1986. Everyone met at the general hospital, then set off into town with police escorts. Violence to women was an issue in the 80’s and is still an issue today, Reclaim the Night marches still happen all over the country.
